Renegade was founded on November 22, 2006 as a nonprofit art magazine for the artists in the Spring, TX community but quickly gained a global following after we launched our first website. Our name is a reference to our mission to spread art courageously, shamelessly, and in spite of what others may want us to say. Because we value self-expression over subjective technical measures, we have and will always accept every submission.
Since our bold start, we’ve reached and changed the lives of artists in over twenty countries, inspiring both visual artists and writers to speak their minds. After a brief hiatus, we are back as an e-zine with tentative print issues set for 2011. Renegade will release a new issue each month with a news feature, two editorial columns, a guest column, and, of course, art and writing. We’ll also post music and multimedia submissions.
With the e-zine format, we hope to create an open dialogue with readers, who can comment on articles, ask questions of our guests, and make suggestions about new features you’d like to see in the magazine.
